A definition of emotions: Emotions are feelings large enough to change your life or destroy it. A state of being; nervousness, is not an emotion. Making emotions bigger. Chose emotion and objective, your body will behave in the character. Always start with emotion first... feel... think... do. Don't act. Just feel. Stay honest. A partial list of acting emotions. Work with emotion. Emotion no matter how tense cannot effect muscles. Stay loose. Science fact: All emotions are all the same in physical signs: Heart rate and electrical impulses.
Accomplish what the character wants with emotion. The actor feels the emotion and thinks the objective to become the character, then reaches for the words to make the character look real.
What do I feel? Run the emotion once, body will take over. Then just think objective. It's not emotion, emotion, emotion...
Watch good acting that is dramatic. Just stand still and maintain emotion. Approach your work with body relaxed, so the emotion can take over. Emotion no matter how tense cannot effect muscles. Stay loose. The way to listen: don't make mind blank; repeat objective and stay with emotion. With bigger emotions, the actor must be more relaxed.
Work mainly with emotions. One of the cardinal rules is you stay with one emotion and one objective until something occurs to change it. You don't drift off because of the dialogue. You only change because of new information or a new event. Drama appeals to emotion. Emotion has to be strong, but reduced - Must not look like acting.

Moved by the emotion, dialogue is nothing. Don't do tricky reading, say it in pain. Talk out of pain. Love is not smooth. Nothing will substitute for pain. If your emotion is anger, it is very hard to calm yourself to do that. That is your acting problem; that is the difficulty of the character. Revenge is a "happy emotion." Emotion can be used against objective. (Her objective: to have sex, her emotion: disgust). Attitude without an emotion will never work, you must vibrate inside. Actors always being relax in emotion. Whatever you do stay loose. Actor is overwhelmed with emotion. Audience is moved by the emotion of actor. The way to listen, don't make mind blank; repeat objective and stay with emotion. Use all your resources not just emotion. Don't act with intelligent, but emotion. Audience is effected by emotion, not intelligent. Audience is caught up in emotions, not ideas. Emotions (feeling) are separate from thoughts (objective). During rehearsal try this with a scene partner: have emotion and have objective, but don't use the words in the scene. Instead, make up the words. This will help you come up with behavior for the characters in the story. A clash of emotions, not a conversation, people effect each other with emotions. What do I feel?
