Acting is reacting.
- All choices how people will
react. You begin to make choices. Effect scene has on audience. Part of how you plan
it. Style: Drama.
Objectives.
- A way to react, react as if you are saying something, like keeping your objective. Don't stand waiting for a cue.
- Audience reacts as a mass,
they are for the underdog.
- Don't act in a vacuum,
react. Use each object for its meaning. Audience is barely
listening, they are watching.
- Don't act,
just react. Audience will read all kind
of things into it, don't act it.
- Framing.
Reacting. Timing.
- How is the audience reacting at this point. Further business will not work: Start out with emotion (terror) and objective
(to not lose her) this will suggest what the actor does. Director
likes it or enhance it, that's all. Director thinks in results. Act, they have to make it
happen.
- People coping with difficult situation. A whole person in difficulty. Reactions,
just not dialogue. It's about behavior.
- Play for reactions and do reactions.
- Reacting, listening.
- Do react to: (mothers
fathers Love) sentimentality.
- React to one another.
- Really see and hear other actor, you will react.
- Right: Conspire to get audience to react
the way you want.
- Think objective. Don't look
like you've worked out reaction.
- Play for reactions and do reactions.
- Have a reaction to a joke.
- No joke unless you react.
- Normal reaction, do
something opposite. What makes it funny.
- Reaction causes laughter.
- Reaction to jokes. Comedy has a straight man and comic.
Comic is the one who generates. Straight man gets pie in face.
- No joke unless you react.

"In the end, it
can't look like acting."
